What opportunities (maybe threats) does this offer the Netherlands/ Europe?

More and more Chinese tourists travel to the Netherlands. In 2014, there were 250,000, 18 percent more than the year. Nowadays Chinese get better financially and therefor they are more interested in the travel market. For most of the Chinese travelers travelling is something new and they experience it in a different way. Chinese people prefer to go on holiday in large groups and want to enjoy their holidays all together.

In China when people think about the Netherlands, first thing that comes up to their mind are the Delta works, a country which is below sea level, tulips, windmills, gay marriage, Euthanasia and the tolerance for sex drugs and abortion. They know that the Netherlands is a kingdom and one of the most densely populated countries in the world.

The Chinese who are traveling are hardworking wealthy Chinese people. The Chinese tourists visits in the Netherlands the canals, the ramparts, the coffee shops, Anne Frank House and the Rijksmuseum and the windmills (Zaanse Schans, Kinderdijk) and Giethoorn. In France, the Eiffel Tower, wineries, casinos and lavender fields. In Italy the tower of Pisa, Venice, Pompeii and the Coliseum.

Most Chinese tourists visit the Netherlands as part of a trip in which they do Europe in nine days. The Chinese people usually get no further than a round Amsterdam.
